Yes, it is EXACTLY what you think it is! Shave the Pussy is for 2008 what Shave Everywhere was for 2007.

    God, I love the internet!

  • Web3.0 Design?

Getting that web 2.0 feel was so easy… something doesn’t quite work right? Just add a cheeky reflection, a bevel or a drop-shadow… and you’re made. But after a while, every single site looks exactly the same - just a variation of the other, which is in-fact just a variation of Apple. So what to do? (more…)

I arrived back yesterday from being away for just a few days to about 600 new feeds from my various blogs. That’s awesome! I subscribe to a LOT of blogs, and all kinds of stuff too - from the blog of Boris Johnson, to american illustrators and of course, ffffound. All of the blogs I subscribe to inspire me in some way or another. So why, as a web designer, do I subscribe to only 4 web design blogs?

Well, because stuff like this inspires me:

…and not “50 Greatest Photoshop Tutorials” or ‘100 Websites that use so much JavaScript, it’ll make you cry”. So I’m led to wonder, and rant a little about why web design blogs have begun preaching to us about how they’re the difinitive resource for design inspiration?!

You won’t be inspired to create the latest amazing website, and finally break free of the web2.0 thing if you constantly trawl through Smashing, Web Designer Wall and WebCreme. As much as I love those sites (and I do), why not try looking at some of these instead?

Monster Munch, Neatorama, WhatNow?, Evasee, Swissmiss, ISO50 and Seth’s Blog (to name but a few)! Save some images, make a scrap book, try your hand at photography or typography, but for god’s sake don’t waste your time trying to find a use for the little RSS man sitting on the bog

    OK, rant over (sorry!).

  • Tiling Backgrounds

Recently I’ve started saving interesting tiling backgrounds I come across on the net - especially since this image (Duchy) took so long to tile seamlessly! So below is a little showcase of a few tileable images.

Click on each image to see a tiling demo:

I’ve got no record of where these are from (sloppy, sorry!) - so let me know if they’re from your site! Obviously use with caution, as I can’t guarantee you’re not breaching any sort of copyright.

  • Your Own Custom ‘Pin’

My PinI found this site when I was designing the Google map part of YO! Sushi a while back - but then lost it. It’s a site that will generate a Google Map pin shadow - and even give you the API code to impliment it!

It’s quick, free and easy - and faster than trying to comp together your own PSD version of Google Maps! Try it out here.
