I doubt I’m the only person today blogging about Google Chrome - but I unfortunately don’t share the same enthusiasm as most.
For one, Google released this ‘revolutionary’ browser today for PC only. Er, it’s not the 90’s Google - people have Mac’s now. And because I’m a mac user, I had to get Johan to send me a screengrab of the browser - out of a genuine interest in the product. (more…)
I arrived back yesterday from being away for just a few days to about 600 new feeds from my various blogs. That’s awesome! I subscribe to a LOT of blogs, and all kinds of stuff too - from the blog of Boris Johnson, to american illustrators and of course, ffffound. All of the blogs I subscribe to inspire me in some way or another. So why, as a web designer, do I subscribe to only 4 web design blogs?
Well, because stuff like this inspires me:

…and not “50 Greatest Photoshop Tutorials” or ‘100 Websites that use so much JavaScript, it’ll make you cry”. So I’m led to wonder, and rant a little about why web design blogs have begun preaching to us about how they’re the difinitive resource for design inspiration?!
You won’t be inspired to create the latest amazing website, and finally break free of the web2.0 thing if you constantly trawl through Smashing, Web Designer Wall and WebCreme. As much as I love those sites (and I do), why not try looking at some of these instead?
Monster Munch, Neatorama, WhatNow?, Evasee, Swissmiss, ISO50 and Seth’s Blog (to name but a few)! Save some images, make a scrap book, try your hand at photography or typography, but for god’s sake don’t waste your time trying to find a use for the little RSS man sitting on the bog…
OK, rant over (sorry!).
YOUR WEBSITE’S SO COOL THAT I DON’T KNOW HOW TO USE IT. FUCKING GENIUS!
Some absolutely brilliant musings by Web Without Sense. See all the quotes here.
In most agencies, account executives outnumber the designers two to one. If you were a dairy farmer, would you employ twice as many milkers as you had cows? - David Ogilvy
So I’ve hacked into Buzz’s blog on a ranting mission cos apparently loads of people come here for mental stimulation. So I could chat about my music, or cooking, or how bored I am today but instead i’m gonna say something about what it’s like to work in new media and why some people shouldn’t bother.
Right where do I start?… hmmm.
Warning! This is pretty hard hitting stuff - read with caution!
