I was reading this article by ‘SuperAwesome’, who share my opinion that web designers should know how to code, and came across one of their comment responses - which sums it all up for me.
The point is not to do it all yourself, but just to be able to. Then you can provide an excellent service, and achieve excellent results.

Branding is not (just) a logo. Nor is branding matching your carpet with visiting card. Branding aims at invoking a recall, recognition and emotional process inside brain.
So stop telling me to use your brand’s delicious tone of orange for body copy. Because I won’t.
I guess this sheds a little more light on my previous post about graphic designers. I especially like the response below to “What is graphic design?”…
