Slide to Send 27.02.09

I was chatting to Stu this morning about reducing the amount of spam on blogs. There’s obviously a whole heap of ways people do this already, but after coming accross this… I thought that maybe it would be nice to have a “Slide if you’re Human” feature on a blog. There’d have to be some kind of javascript workaround… but it could work!! -

Safari 4 – Beta Launch 24.02.09

Apple publically launched the Beta of Safari 4 today – and I gotta say that it looks impressive. Features like an intuitive Firefox-esque address bar, coverflow and an Opera-esque ‘Favorites’ are standard now, and look slick! I love the new intro ‘movie’ too… and the fact that it’s animated with Javascript makes it all the better! (You can only view it in Safari 4 though, sorry!)Good work Apple! I’d use Safari now, I really would… but it doesn’t have Firebug!

Site: Fwis.com 23.02.09

Thought I’d kick off this new section by introducing you to Fwis. The site is beautifully clean and has some impressive work – but above all, I love their unconventional (but realistic and honest) menu titles. Brilliant! -
Random act of kindness 23.02.09

I had to share this! This is literally the first act of kindness I’ve seen from a large company. Hats off to you O2! -
Readymech 21.02.09

Came accross this site today – these little guys are flippin’ mental… going to make a few on Monday!Readymechs are free, flatpack toys for you to print and build. They are designed to fit on an 8.5″x11″ page and printed with any printer. You’ll need double-sided tape, thick matte paper, and 10-15 minutes for build time.

Visual Bookmarking 21.02.09

Like some kind of man possessed, I’ve spent the last year screen-grabbing, cataloguing and filing away websites that have impressed me on some kind of visual level… all in a vain attempt to be able to recall websites, at ease, without finding they’ve been re-designed!

Sending a Form 20.02.09
This morning I was thinking back to when I started tinkering with HTML back in the 90’s – and how I was always frustrated with forms. I remember wanting to be able to submit data, but not knowing how (as there’s no way using HTML alone). So I thought I’d write a really simple tutorial for those of you who want to dabble in PHP (it’s easy, trust me) to submit data from a form…

Featured in ‘The Directory’ 17.02.09

I’ve just been sent the APA Customer Publishing Directory 2009 in which the site I designed whilst working at Story, Duchy Originals has a double page spread! It’s also in my new portfolio. -
Umbrella Today? 13.02.09
It’s like totally the simplest weather report ever, Julie.

Have you noticed that the more complex internet technology gets, the simpler the web becomes? I love it! Reminds me of The Hadron Collider Site (check out the code, geeks) -
NikeiD 12.02.09

Looking around the studio, I’m clearly the last to know about this service from Nike… as everyone seems to have their very own custom shoes on! Basically on online app where you can design your own shoe (running, football, whatever) from scratch! Very cool app design too – check it out nikeid.nike.com
