I’ve been meaning to write about this for a while (years in fact), but never got around to it. But seeing as the BBC has recently undergone a radical new redesign (above), and was featured in this months Web Designer Magazine - I thought now was as good a time as any.
We all know the BBC for their authoritative tone of voice and quality of service - so it’s not surprising that they have a list of ‘Principles’ for their web content. Principles like this:
The very best websites do one thing really, really well: do less, but execute perfectly.
These principles relate quite nicely to almost any large website you do, and are a constant reference point for me when I’m in the Information Architecture stage. This site is definitely worth a bookmark!

Buzz is a sailor, skier, extreme sports enthusiast and designer living in London. He enjoys loud music, trying new things and talking crap. He doesn't really like reading though!

That taught me a thing or two. Try to do only one thing but do it well. And, your website is only as good as it’s worst page. I’ve been warned!
